STUDIO POLICIES
>> DRESS CODE

Appropriate attire is required for each class. This includes hair pulled away from the face. Please respect the teachers and the discipline by dressing appropriately. Examples of appropriate attire are listed below. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

Musical Theater: any color leotard/form-fitting top, tights or leggings (fitted jazz shorts are permitted, must be worn with tights), hair pulled back and away from face, jazz shoes.

Acro: No shoes, footless tights, leotards, hair pulled away from face and secure. No tee shirts or loose fitting attire.

Tot Hop and Tumble: No shoes, footless tights or leggings, leotard or fitted tank top/camisole, No loose fitting or baggy attire

Ballet: Black leotard of any style, pink footed/convertible tights, pink canvas or leather ballet shoe, wrap or pull on skirt permitted, hair pulled tightly away from face (bun, french twist, clip). No ponytails, t-shirts or baggy warm-up attire.

Contemporary/Modern: leotard of any color or style, footless or stirrup tight of any color, shorts or capris, foot-undeez optional

Hip-Hop: form fitting t-shirt, pants/shorts (no pants that drag the ground), sneakers (please, no dirty street sneakers). High top sneakers are suggested (but not required) for ankle support.

Jazz: leotard of any color or style, fitted jazz shorts, tan or black tights (stirrup, footed, or footless), tan slip on jazz shoe. Hair pulled back and away from face. No camisoles or t-shirts permitted

Tap: leotard of any style or color, pants/shorts (no baggy pants), black lace-up tapster shoe

Ballet/Jazz/Tap Combo: leotard of any style or color, pink or tan footed tights, tan slip-on jazz shoes, wrap skirt and/or fitted jazz shorts, pink leather or canvas ballet shoes, black Mary Jane style tap shoes, hair pulled back and away from face

Ballet/Tap Combo: leotard of any style or color, pink footed or footless tights, black patent leather tap shoes (please remove the laces and add elastic to shoe, there will not be time to time shoes between style changes), pink leather or canvas ballet shoes

Please arrive to class on time. Warm-up is essential to avoid injury. If you are running late or going to miss class, please contact us by telephone or email.

Please respect others and their feelings. Positive attitudes prove to be much more productive.

Parents, please do not enter the studio during your child's class time. This is very distracting to your children, other students, and the teachers. If you would like to view class, please make arrangements with the teacher.
>> FOOD/DRINK POLICY
Absolutely no food, gum, or drinks in the studio. Unless otherwise specified for special occasions/events, only bottled water is allowed in the studio. If your child has specific dietary needs, please let us know as we are more than happy to accommodate!
>> SUBSTITUTES
Dancespace reserves the right to engage substitutes for the classes where the regular teacher is absent. New teachers always have something new to share with young dancers.
>> TUITION

Tuition is due by the 1st of the month. Payments received after the 5th will be charged a 10.00 late fee, and payments after the 15th will be charged a 15.00 late fee. If your account is not current, your child will no longer be able to attend class or participate in our end of year performance. A fee of 25.00 will be added to all returned checks.

The monthly tuition rate will remain the same throughout the year regardless of the number of weeks in the month (for example: Winter and Spring Break). Tuition is not prorated or adjusted. Make-up classes will be offered if needed. Dancespace will follow Virginia Beach Public School Calendars for closures due to inclement weather.

Written notice (email) or call to our office (757.965.7733) is required before the first of the month if you would like to withdrawal from our program. There is no refund for tuition due, or paid, in the month the student has withdrawn.

Liability Waiver and Release
n behalf of myself and my children, I understand that there are risks associated with, arising out of and inherent to the activities provided through Dancespace Inc.. They include, but are not limited to, illness, injury and death. In recognition of this acknowledged risk, I knowingly and voluntarily waive all right and/ or causes of action of any kind, including any and all claims of negligence arising as a result of such activity from which liability could accrue to Dancespace Inc. Studio, it’s officers, agents, employees, instructors, subsidiaries, and all affiliated entities (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Dancespace”.)
I hereby agree to release Dancespace and hold Dancespace harmless of all liability, and hereby acknowledge that I knowingly and voluntarily assume full responsibility for all risks arising out of active participation in classes, performances and activities through Dancespace on behalf of myself, the legal guardian, and the participant/s.
I am aware that this is a release of liability and an acknowledgement of my voluntary and knowing assumption of the associated risks. I have signed this document voluntarily and of my own free will in exchange for the privilege of participation.
I also give Dancespace permission to use my child’s picture in or on any form of advertisement or publication in behalf of Dancespace or a Dancespace affiliated event. (Please notify us in writing if pictures cannot be publicly displayed for any reason)
